THE SHARK is a highly-customized 1976 Corvette Stingray Coupe
designed, built and owned by Tom & Liz Benford of Brick, New Jersey.
THE SHARK has been featured in numerous automotive magazines and it
is a stylized version of Bill Mitchell's original 1960's Mako Shark II show car.
THE SHARK features Eckler's custom fiberglass components including the Monza tilt front-end, Daytona louvers, fender flares on all four wheels and a molded fiberglass rear end.
The interior by Mid America Designs is black leather, rosewood and mahogany. It features an AM/FM/Cassette and 12-CD changer. The side exhausts and covers are also by Mid America.
The doors are operated by remote controlled solenoids from Dakota Digital, as well as a full complement of blue fluorescent gauges custom built by Dakota Digital exclusively for THE SHARK. An electronic mirror that features a digital compass and outside temperature sensor is also by Dakota Digital, along with the digital cruise control.
All suspension and brake components are by Vette Brakes and Products.
The fuel system, some interior components and engine components are by Corvette Central, as is the WindJammer windshield wing.
The block-hugger headers and sterling high temperature coating on many of the engine parts is by Jet-Hot Coatings.
The entire frame was covered with POR-15 rust preventive coating.
Wheel Vintiques custom made the 8-inch wide chrome wire wheels used on THE SHARK and Goodyear Eagle II GT tires are used all around.
Blue interior fluorescent lighting and blue neon undercarriage lighting by LiteGlow Industries gives THE SHARK a distinctive look at night.
Stainless steel fasteners by Screws Unlimited were used throughout.
